Today we were doing another collaborative drawing project, with John Bently. We brought in white sheets of A1 paper and dry black and white drawing materials such as pencils, charcoal, pens etc. John had cut up a picture and we were given a little square each with a number written on the back. We were to enlarge and draw this image on our A1 sheets. At this point no one had any idea what the whole image was, so we were curious to what it might be. When we had finished our drawings it was time to put all the pieces together. The sheets were put face down on the floor, so we still couldn't see what the final picture was.
The huge picture only just fit onto the studio floor, so we had to roll it up to transport it up onto the balcony of Chelsea to reveal the image!
I was on the balcony when we unravelled the image, and by everyone's reaction I could tell the result was successful! It was an image of the Queen.
I managed to see it from below as well when it was laid out onto the grounds of Chelsea. I thought it worked out really well, and I liked how abstract it looked with all the different mediums used.
