Drawing Fabric

Today we had another drawing workshop and we were told to bring in a piece of fabric that I find inspiring. This could be because of the colour, texture, construction, print and so on. We also had to bring in black ink, a range of paint brushes and large paper to work on.
This was the fabric I decided to work from..

Our task for the session was to draw our piece of fabric on our paper, enlarging it and looking into the detail of the fabric carefully. Because of the large scale we were working on, I found it hard using the media of ink as it dries so quickly. However, it was interesting to look closely at the detail on my piece of fabric and try to enlarge it in a drawing.
The workshop was run by tutor and artist Charlotte Mann, and she accentuated the point that neatness and accuracy are two completely different things.

Some photographs of my drawing...
