Transformation...

Today we had a drawing workshop held by John Bently. Throughout the day he introduced me to ideas that I have never thought about before, which consisted of a lot of thinking. In the workshop we used our objects from our popup collections and we were working on large scale A2. The workshop involved drawing tasks such as; drawing a selection of our objects as stencils, drawing the outline of our objects from six different angles and drawing an object with all of its different parts individually, which one had to be imaginative for.

There were two drawing tasks that particularly challenged my thinking. The first one was where we had to draw an object with directions for a completely different use to what it's normally used for. I had to be creative here and try to think 'outside the box'. The second task was where we had to draw two objects, one at the top of the page and one at the bottom. We had to do three more drawings in between them which would combine the objects so they were turning into each other. I decided to try and turn ribbon into a pair of scissors.

John Bently was very interesting in the way he spoke about drawing and I particularly enjoyed his workshop today as it challenged my thinking when drawing.
