Today was my first day of Block 1 WEAVE. When I walked into the weave workshop the table looms looked slightly complicated and tricky. But once I was introduced to the machines I quickly got the hang of it and they weren't so bad after all. I learnt about the draft, lifting plan and the weave plan. I started with the simple weave patterns such as plain weave and then moved onto the more detailed patterns for example the diamond weave. I enjoyed the more tricky patterns as it grabbed my concentration and produced a more interesting result.
The second day in the studio I continued to work on the looms trying out new weave patterns with a mixture of threads and yarns so I could experiment with different widths. I also started to use colour which complimented my windings/wrappings and my POPUP collection.
